Kos Island, often referred to as the “Island of Hippocrates,” holds a profound legacy in the history of healing and medicine. His teachings emphasized natural healing, a balanced lifestyle, and the importance of ethical medical practices, which are still relevant today. One of the island’s most famous landmarks is the Asklepieion, an ancient healing temple dedicated to Asklepios, the god of healing. Built in the 4th century BCE, this sanctuary was not only a religious site but also a center for medical practice and education. Patients from across the Mediterranean traveled to Kos seeking cures, combining spiritual rituals with therapeutic treatments. We will have a lovely visit, then have our late lunch before getting our luggage to drive through the airport.
